

Maria Elisa Rodriguez, 84, of Austin, peacefully passed away from this life on Sunday, March 26, 2006 after a brief illness. She was born on February 24, 1922, in Waco, Texas to Flora and Andrew Reyes. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sarah Reyes. Elisa is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Ben Rodriguez. She is also survived by her son, Rudy Cisneros, Jr. and wife Jeannie; daughter, Julie Cisneros-Cantu and husband Eddie, and her grandchildren, Michael Cisneros, Mark Cisneros and wife Teresa, Matthew Cisneros and Andrew Cantu; step-grandchildren, Dan Cantu, Valerie Tamez, Brandy Vela and husband Raul and their children; sisters, Carmen Hernandez, Janie Lemos and Flora Mendoza, Beatrice Olivarez; brothers Jesse Reyes, Joe Reyes and Andrew Reyes and many other family members and friends. Elisa retired from 12th Air Force with 30 years of service. She also worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Elisa loved life and expressed it with her outgoing personality and contagious smile. She was a kind hearted, generous and compassionate lady. She will be greatly missed and remembered by us all. Elisa was a faithful member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church and enjoyed being actively involved in church activities and the friendship of many wonderful church members. A warm sincere thanks to her beloved family and special wonderful friends (particularly Alicia Cisneros and Denise Montalvo) for their loyal visits, prayers, and overall love and support they gave to Elisa during her illness. A special thank you to Nurse Roy Lopez and staff of St. Davids Hospital ICU Unit for the excellent care Elisa was given. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Tomei presiding. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
