

Marian Balagia Nicholas, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully at home April 30, 2014, at the age of 90. Born April 24, 1924, to Peter and Mae Balagia, she was a devout member of Saint Mary Cathedral, and a proud member of the American Lebanon Association.
Her greatest joy was her family, and theirs was reciprocated adoration for her. Her always beautiful countenance was a reflection of her faith and devotion to God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Nick Nicholas, Sr., and son, Gary Nicholas. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Reid, and sons, John Nicholas, and Nick Nicholas, Jr., granddaughters Amber Reid, Tracey Nicholas, and Blakeley Nicholas, grandsons Michael Valagura and Easton Nicholas, as well as four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many dearly loved extended family members and friends.
Her family would like to especially thank Debbie Cochran for her loving care and commitment to all of them, and the professionals at Hospice Austin for their care and counsel.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX, beginning at 6:00 pm, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 9:30 am, St. Mary Cathedral, 203 E 10th St, Austin, TX, with Rev. George Joseph officiating. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Valagura, Easton Nicholas, Bob Nicholas, Jr., John Mecey, Jamie Balagia, and Mark Cochran.
