Marjorie was born on February 26, 1928, in Muenster, Texas, the fifth of 10 children born to Roy Endres and Annie Herr Endres. She was proud of the fact that she lived her entire life in Texas.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Muenster in 1946. In September of that same year, she joined the Sisters of Saint Mary at Our Lady of Victory Convent in Fort Worth, Texas. She pursued her degree while teaching at several Catholic grade schools around Texas, including Fort Worth, Arlington, Dallas, Beaumont, Dickinson, and Houston. In 1962, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio with a major in History and a minor in Philosophy. She later left the Convent, went back to school, and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1971. Throughout a lifetime of service, Marjorie touched the lives of many patients, friends, and family with her care and compassion. She provided counseling and mental health services for more than 20 years with the Tarrant County Hospital District (John Peter Smith Hospital), Child and Family Services of Fort Worth, Catholic Charities of Fort Worth, and the Gladney Center for Adoption.
While she was proud of the fact that she was born, educated, employed, and lived her entire life in Texas, she enjoyed traveling around the US (especially New Mexico) as well as trips to Europe and Mexico. She also enjoyed her church activities, her Catholic Tuesday Morning Discussion group in Fort Worth, and the arts, especially her frequent visits to the Kimbell Art Museum. She shared over 50 years with her loving friend and companion, Mary Hatcher Glade. For many years, she also enjoyed the companionship of numerous close friends in the Metroplex including Marie Racine, Jane Watson, Karen Perkins, and the Rev. Gayland Pool. Her dedicated friends of many decades, Marie Racine and Karen Perkins continued their love and significant support even after she left Fort Worth.
In 2014, she moved to Austin to be closer to her sister Floradell, Floradell’s family, Mary Glade, and Mary’s family. She spent her remaining years at Solstice, a senior independent living community, where she established many dear friendships with residents and staff alike. She considered herself blessed to have love, companionship, and assistance from her Austin family including Anne Marie Pellar, Johnie Muller, Danny and Teresa LaGesse, Genie Glade Revelle, Patton Glade, and most especially her devoted niece Jeanne Muller.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all 9 of her siblings: Ray (“Tiny”) Endres, Edward Endres, Rose Marie Endres Hennigan, James (“Jimmy”) Endres, Donald Endres, Hugh (“Cotton”) Endres, Floradell Endres LaGesse, David Endres and Robert (“Bobby”) Endres, as well as a niece, several nephews and Mary Glade. She is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to offer a special thank you to Cella Bella Senior Services whose dedicated caregivers (especially Annabel Castro and Jesse Morin) provided her with tender personal care during her time here in Austin, and Cella Bella Hospice who provided such gentle and compassionate support during her last months, days and hours on earth.
