Marjorie Puckett McGarry (1927-2007). Our beloved Marjorie was called by God on Tuesday, February 27 surrounded by her loving family in Austin, Texas. Marjorie was simply the most kind, loving and gentle woman any of us has ever known. Known simply as "Mama" to all who knew her, she was the epitome of grace; a giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend with an ever-present smile, an open heart, and a fun and playful personality. She made everyone feel as if they were her favorite. Marjorie was born in Denver on October 10, 1927 and raised two daughters with her beloved husband of 54 years, John Wesley Puckett (1926-1999). She resided in Houston for 24 years before marrying beloved husband Martin W. McGarry and living the last four years of her life, full of love, travel, and grandchildren, with him in Austin. She is survived by her husband Martin W. McGarry, her children Sharon Puckett Conner (and husband Gene), Judi Puckett Shaw (David), Catherine McGarry Martinez (J.A. Pepe) and Marcus McGarry (Nikki), and grandchildren Scott Shaw (Jennifer), Hawley Shaw Poinsett (Royce), Joseph Martinez, Michael Martinez, Theresa Martinez, Max McGarry, Kaitlyn McGarry and Michael McGarry. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 6th at 10 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin; and Saturday, March 10th at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Houston. Special thanks to Nurses Dana and Gerri of Hospice Austin for the care, love and strength given to our beloved Mama during her final days. The family requests that in lieu of floral tributes, donations be made to American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) and Hospice Austin (www.hospiceaustin.org) in her memory.
