Bud came into my life about twenty years ago and has been like a grandfather to me since.  His beloved memory will remain in my heart forever and all of my prayers go out to you Maria and David for your loss of this beautiful spirit; I know Bud will be with us all looking down from Heaven.  My life has been enriched through my time with Bud, may he be in GOD's hands  now, and forever; and may GOD bless his soul.



I share in your grief since Bud was like a father to me and a grandfather to Brian. He meant so much to both of us.  I especially enjoyed his yearly golf trips to Florida when he stayed with us. He was a great mentor to Brian and will surely be missed. It was an honor to have him part of our lives. May he rest in peace.



Maria and family:  Heaven has gained a beautiful spirit in Bud Putter.  Not one to dwell on his physicial limitations but projecting a positive outlook on life.  He was a shining example of courage and dignity. Maria, know that my prayers and thoughts are with you during this time. To relieve tensions, Bud would always interject humor during stressful contract negotiations in 1979.  I remember him fondly.

Bud was the very first Delta Captain I ever met.  In the winter of 1974-75, and only 23 years old, I had a trip to Bangor Maine.  Because of a delay, I had to unexpectedly spend the night.  Seeing Delta jets at the terminal, I asked where the crews stayed and ended up at the Holiday Inn.  There I met Bud and his crew, Dale Lodin and Mike Trahan.  They bought me drinks and took me to dinner with them at The Pilot Grill where I had my first ever lobster dinner.  Bud and his crew's kindness and encouragement to this young aviator surely had a lot do with my ending up at Delta.  To eventually get to fly with him while based in IAH was a pleasure and a privilege.  My deepest sympathy to Bud's family and friends.



First of all, I can't begin to thank all of my fathers friends and fellow pilots for the respect and love you have shown for him and my mother during this time of loss.  He was always my "Hero", as well as the best pilot I ever had the chance to fly with, and he was one of the most loving fathers anyone could pray for.  It is obvious that he touch so many more lives in a positive way than I ever knew.  The loss we feel has been made so much  easier knowing that you all cared so much or had so many wonderful memories with our Dad. Dear Mrs Putter and Family:  I am so sorry to hear of Bud's passing.  I too have fond memories of flying with Bud on the L-1011 in my early years with Delta.  Bud was one of the "good guys". Always a professional, and always enjoyable to fly with.  I share in your loss.

Bud was one of the most determined people I have ever met.  In the face of medical difficulties that would have caused a lesser man to give up, he pushed on.  The last time I saw him, he was still trying to set up a date for BBQ!

I first met Bud when I was a lowly flight engineer on the L1011. That had to be around 1983. He was a consummate professional as well as a class act. I learned much from him. He will be missed.

Bud was one of the most honorable MEN I ever met.  Hardy and I lived down the street from Bud and Maria in the early 70s and Bud was a negotiator.  Bud would not take ALPA Flt Pay Loss, for trips missed.  He flew his trips and spent his off days in ATL negotiating our contract. I was always honored to call him my friend.  Godspeed Bud !!!



So many wonderful memories to even begin to name them.  Wonderful man and was a great privilege to say he was my friend.



Bud was a great guy.  I'll never forget how nice he was when my father died in 1984.  He drove our family to the church and was so kind and helpful.  Our deepest sympathy to Maria and the family.



I learned so much from Mr. Putter in the times he sat in my office.  He had wonderful stories and remembered me and my name because of the song.  He was sweet to sing it to me.



We are grieved to learn of Bud's passing.  Our thoughts are with you and our prayers continue for you.



Bud was LEC chairman in IAH when I was a new hire.  We weren't officially under ALPA's protection (had not finished probation) when Delta delayed our first pay raise.  No ALPA officer or management type seemed to care that we were being cheated out of a much needed raise due to a technicality, except for Bud.  On his day off, he went to ATL and talked Mr Garrett into giving us  a raise.  Bud was my kind of Captain, my kind of man.



I had the priviledge to fly copilot for Bud on the L-1011.  He was a true gentleman and pleasure to fly with.  I know that the world is a better place for having had Bud in it and I know that his loss will be deeply felt by all that knew him.   My sincerest condolences.
