

She was a local business owner and music teacher at Benke Piano. She was an avid supporter of local music and music education, and shared her passion with her many students over the years. Martha was also a proponent of homeschooling, and chose to homeschool her two children for several years, encouraging them to be active in both the arts and sports. She was the wife of an Air Force officer, enjoyed travelling the world, and supported her husband in tours of duty that included Germany, the Panama Canal and many stateside assignments.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Allison Rene, in 1981, and by her father, Vernon McClure, in 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter and son-in-law, Kaile and Gary Mizell, and their son, Jack; her son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Beth Benke; and her mother, Nellie McClure, of Clinton, OK.
The family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m., and funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive in Austin, Texas 78749, Pastor Nathan Benke will officiate.
Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
