

Martie Jean (McCain) Linville, 92, passed away in Austin, Texas on November 23, 2013 after battling several ailments during her final years. She was a loving daughter and mother, as well as, a caring friend.
Martie Jean was born in Iredell, Texas in Bosque County, the only child of Martin and LaVerne McCain. With her family, she lived in towns of all size across Texas. She made the friends of her early years in Hamlin, Bryan and Houston. Martie Jean married Jay W. Linville, Jr. and they made homes in Port Lavaca and Brenham where both were active in the Methodist church and in local and national civic clubs. Husband Jay preceded her in death. She chose to spend the last decade of her life in the Austin area where she could be close to her only child, James Linville, and his wife, Lina Husodo.
Martie Jean attained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and completed graduate studies at the University of Houston. She was a 70-year member of the Delta Zeta sorority and a charter member of the Alpha Gamma chapter of Delta Pi Epsilon, a professional graduate fraternity in business education. She worked a number of positions but most identified with her time teaching in both elementary and high school. Throughout her life, she loved the arts. She painted in oil and watercolor and enjoyed attending the theater and classical music concerts.
Martie Jean’s family wishes to thank the staff at The Heritage, The Summit Northwest Hills and The Summit Westlake Hills for the caring assistance given to her and to the family.
