Oh, Dear, dear Mary,  Those years at CDP were wonderful beyond words. I was given the "horse shoe and utensil" wooden piece that hung in the lobby and it is one of my very favorite things. Give Bob my love! RIP, dear Mary. My condolences to your family.

This is a post that I did on Facebook upon learning of Mary's death:
To all the many people who passed through the wonderful doors of the Country Dinner Playhouse, the wonderful matriarch/owner of it during the founding and through the glory days has died at the age of 101.  Mary Boren died New Year's day after a brief illness.  She had lived independently until recent months.  When I worked at the theater in Denver when it opened and for the first seven years, she always seemed as much of a movie star as anyone who set foot on the stage.  Always greeting the customers and encouraging everyone who worked there to treat everyone who walked in as special.  She was the epitome of SPECIAL.  I am so fortunate to have lived near her the past twenty years and had a wonderful visit with her at her beautiful home about six months ago.  I marveled at her then.  She NEVER seemed to age and was as sharp at our last visit as she was forty-five years ago when I first met her.  My love to her family and especially to our dear friends, her daughter, Jan Boren Nuckolls and  husband, Batch and their two daughters  Chrissy & Katie .

Burial with brief graveside service will be Thursday, January 7th at 1:00, Sparkman-Hillcrest in Dallas.  Visitation to follow.

I know you've touched many lives and several of those are people I love dearly. Your candle will continue to burn brightly here, helping your loved ones feel your presence. God Bless - Mia & Rob Canning
