

Mary Ann (Fowler) Fitzgerald, age 74, of Kyle, Texas died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in San Marcos, Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born November 28, 1938 in Laredo, Texas to Isaac Dudley “Ike” Fowler, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Richter. She was a 4th generation Texan and the descendant of early Texas pioneer settlers.
In 1957, Mary Ann graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and later on June 25, 1960 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert B. (Bob) Fitzgerald. She retired from State employment after 22 years of combined service with the State Comptroller’s Office and the Department of Human Resources.
Mary Ann was a true patriot and an organizing and charter member of Lost Pines Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution Smithville, Texas. Genealogy was her passion and she helped organize and was a charter member of the Smithville Genealogy Society. Over the years she complied and published four family history books.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son, David Wayne Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bob; son, Robert B. (Buck) Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife, Christy; two granddaughters, Tayler Marie Gill and husband, Mason and Morgan Diane Fitzgerald; sister, Nancy Cook; brothers, Charlie Fowler and wife, Patti, Don Fowler and wife, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
Private family burial will be held at a later date.
