

Mary Katherine Marshall Foster of Austin, Texas passed away May 9th, 2026 at the age of 81. She was born November 12th, 1944 in Austin, Texas to Victor Lee (Vick) and Viola Mae Williamson Marshall of Bee Cave, Texas. She was the youngest of 6 children.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Vick and Viola Marshall and all of her siblings including her brothers Lloyd (Buck) Marshall of Bee Cave, Texas, Dale Marshall of Oklahoma, Richard (Dickie) Marshall of Dripping Springs, Texas, and sisters Gay Murphy of Driftwood, Texas, and Bonnie Bedford of Austin, Texas.
Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gary Eugene Foster of Austin, Texas; daughters DeLinda Schulze and Mike Johnson of Cedar Creek, Texas, LeAnne and Mark Schram of Dripping Springs, Texas, Katherine and Daniel Shugart of Dripping Springs, Texas; her granddaughters Jenna and Matt Sager of Kyle, Texas, Dannielle Shugart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lauren Schram of Dripping Springs, Texas; grandson Marshal Schram of Dripping Springs, Texas; as well as her great-granddaughters Kloey and Katie Forbes of San Marcos, Texas, Kamryn Sager of Kyle, Texas; and great grandson Killian Sager of Kyle, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews across the country.
Mary graduated from Dripping Springs High School. There she played basketball and was proud that they made it to state.
She worked the switchboard for Southwestern Bell in Bee Cave and then later worked at Southwestern Bell in downtown Austin. She enjoyed selling Avon to her friends and acquaintances. Mary also became the first woman to sell insurance at Southland Life Insurance Company in Austin and even won the “Man Of The Year” award. Once she retired, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren.
She loved being hospitable in her younger years and made many friends over the years. Her family and friends always enjoyed her humor and funny stories about growing up with her dear friends in the country and we still enjoy those stories today.
She loved drawing fashion designs when she was young and enjoyed trying her hand at different arts and crafts throughout the years.
Mary loved her husband and children very much. She cherished all of her grand and great-grandchildren. Mary loved her many nieces and nephews, as well. Many of her children's friends even grew up calling her “Mom” and they knew her house was a safe place. Mary often would sacrifice to make sure her kids had what they needed. Her family knew her to be strong, tough, fearless and protective over the ones that she loved.
She loved to cook for an army and everyone loved her food. Holidays were at her and Gary's home, filled with family and friends and plenty of food for all.
Mary had a way of blessing and helping people and she was greatly loved. Even in her later years, when she was mostly home-bound, she made many friends on Facebook and loved to joke with and comfort the friends that she connected with.
Mary came to know Jesus at a young age and grew in her faith throughout her life. She trusted Him to get her through the toughest seasons, even in the last months of her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Katherine Marshall Foster will be laid to rest at a graveside service at White Rock Cemetery in Bee Cave, Texas on Saturday, May 16th at 2pm.
