

Mary H. Jones, age 91, died peacefully in Austin, TX on Friday, December 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Daniel Harrington (Ishpeming, Michigan) and sister, Ann Edwards (Naples, Florida).
Mary was born in Ishpeming, MI on November 15, 1930, the first of the four children of Phillip and Vera Harrington. She is survived by her brother John (Maria) Harrington of Austin, TX. Mary graduated from Ishpeming High School in 1948 and worked for several years for the Upper Peninsula Power Company before moving to East Lansing, MI where she attended Michigan State University while working for the university as an accountant.
She met Martin L. Jones (Marty) who was a student and U.S. military veteran. They were married in 1957 and spent a wonderful 64 years together. They have six sons who are now married, Steve and Tami, (Greenwood Village, CO); Mike and Lee, (Boerne, TX); Tim and Terri, (Naperville, IL); Brian and Jennifer, (Okemos, MI); Dan and Kim, (Cedar Park, TX); and Kevin and Marianne (Brecksville, OH). Mary is also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Mary and Marty traversed the country prior to retirement living in Lansing, MI, Hoffman Estates, IL, Harrisburg PA, West Bloomfield, MI, Schaumburg, IL, Houston TX, Dallas TX, Plymouth, MI and Medford, NJ before settling in Austin, TX in 1995.
Mary volunteered at Dell Children’s Hospital for 17 years and was a Master Gardener. She has been an active parishioner at St. John Neumann Catholic Church since arriving in Austin, a regular at the Barton Creek Country Club Fitness Center for 23 years and a Bridge Club Member for over 20 years.
A viewing will be held at the Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749 on Sunday, December 19, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 5455 Bee Cave Road, West Lake Hills, TX 78746 at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021.
