Mary Ann Looman

Born November 22, 1929 in Peoria, IL, Mrs. Looman was the only child of the late Clarence Carroll Wheeler and Myrna (King) Wheeler. She was united in marriage to David Webb Sweetnam January 31, 1953 in Peoria, IL. In 1969 she married Howard M. Looman in Denver, CO. Both former husbands predeceased her.

Mary Ann received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Bradley University in Peoria where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She also attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN where she was a synchronized swimmer. Sketching portraits and landscapes brought her much joy.

Mrs. Looman spent twenty – five years in the Denver, CO area prior to moving to Austin, TX in 1982 where she enjoyed spending time with her children. She was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Austin for about 20 years.

Mrs. Looman is survived by her children, Martha (Marti) Sweetnam Gay (James) and Margaret Minnie (Megan) Looman Ramon (Jeffrey) of Austin; eight grandchildren, Brittany Gay, Briyana Gay Morrell (Brent), Tobin Gay (Lisa), Casey Wayne Cowan (Amanda), Melody Cantrell, Lexie Peña, Mackenzie and Micayla Ramon; and 3 great grandchildren, Malaya Bennett, Aliyana Morrell and Joshua Finn Morrell.

A viewing will be Friday August 15, 2014 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78752. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, at New Life Church, 3200 Century Park Blvd. Austin, TX. 78727

Interment will be at Capital Memorial Park, Pflugerville, TX.
