

Mary Lee (Gram) Murrell of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the age of 93. Mary Lee Aven was born on December 19, 1931, in Josephine, Texas, where she was raised as an only child by her parents, Edgar Lee and Tennie Mae Aven.
Mary Lee is survived by her loving family, including her children: Daughter, Donna Lee Kaimal and her husband Jana, daughter Llewellyn Lampley, and son James Donald Lampley, Jr. and his wife Patty, along with all of their beautiful families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and children’s father, James Donald Lampley, Sr. (1977), and her second husband, Henry Hurt Murrell (2017).
A woman of profound faith and grace, Mary Lee touched the lives of everyone she met. She graduated from high school early and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1951. Mary Lee spent much of her early adult life in El Campo, Texas, where she and her husband, Donald Lampley, raised their family. In the early 1970s, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she earned a Master's in Education from Trinity University in 1974 and a counseling certification in 1984. Her career as a guidance counselor at Texas Military Institute in San Antonio spanned over 20 years, where she was known for her caring and compassionate spirit.
Mary Lee’s love for community extended beyond her career. She lived at Canyon Lake, Texas, where she enjoyed hosting her family nearly every weekend. A dedicated member of her church, she was also an active volunteer, serving as the first librarian at Eden Home from 1985 to 2007. Under her guidance, the Maechtle Memorial Library was established in 1986, an accomplishment for which she was honored.
Mary Lee was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she cherished spending time with her family. She was a true testament to God’s love, and her legacy of kindness, faith, and dedication will forever be remembered.

A public celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cook Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home located at 9700 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin, Texas.
Mary Lee will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
