Mary Elizabeth Armistead Sparks, 85, died November 15, 2005. She was born on October 8, 1920, in Donna, Texas, to William Henry and Maye Nance Armistead. Mary graduated from the Brackenridge Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, entered the U.S. Army Nurse Corp., and served her country during WWII in England and France. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Travis Co. Chapter #472. Her husband of 51 years, Raymond L. Sparks, preceded her in death May, 1997. Mrs. Sparks is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Leah Sparks; daughter Becky Sparks; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Jim Sites; and daughter Janet Tate. Five grandchildren: Lauren and Kelley Sparks, Kyle Sites, Mason and Sarah Tate. Nieces Maydene Worley and Sharon A. Winwood. Nephews Bill, Nance, and Dick Armistead and many very dear friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 17, 2005, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Friday, November 18, 2005, 10:00 a.m., at Austin Memorial Park with Pastor David Fetter officiating.
