Mary C. Torrez

She was preceded in death by daughter, Diana; grandson, Adrian Hidrogo; great-granddaughter, baby Felicia Torrez; parents, Catarino and Ramona Correa and seven of eight siblings.

Mary is survived by her children, Rita Santiago and husband Edgar, Becky Ochoa and husband Rick, Emma Goris, Elpidio Torrez Jr. and wife Rose Mary; sister, Carolyn Rickrode; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren.

Mom made tremendous sacrifices for her family. She enjoyed family get togethers and cooking for her growing family. She didn't hesitate to help anyone in need or anyone that was hungry. She was known for her wonderful cooking and her good tacos. She also enjoyed going to bingo.

She worked for AISD for several years before going to work for the State at the Dept of Health and Human Services where she retired from.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Torrez, Ernest Torrez, Evan Santiago, Matthew Santiago, Raul Martinez and Charles Rios. Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Hidrogo, Bryan Morris and Jacob Torrez.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, September 2, 2016 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

A special thanks to our dad (Elpidio Torrez Sr.) for being there for mom and us during this difficult time. A special thanks to her son-in-law, Edgar Santiago for being her personal handy man.
