Matthew was born September 30, 1985 in Houston, Texas. He attended elementary through high school in the Spring Branch area of Houston, graduating ninth in his class at Northbrook High. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and thereafter worked for a number of companies in Austin, the most recent of which was UPS, where he held jobs initially in the warehouse and later as a driver.
Matthew is survived by his parents, John and Arlene Kummer of Winchester, Virginia; brother David Kummer, his wife Doris Kwan and their son Liam Kummer, of Houston; aunts Angela Bailey of Springfield, Virginia; Donna Ballard of Heuvelton, New York; and Marguerite Czyzewski of Madison, Wisconsin; uncles Joseph Hayden and his wife Unmi Hayden of San Antonio, Texas; John Hayden of Yonkers, New York; cousin Corwin Hayden of San Antonio, with whom he had a special bond; and a number of other cousins throughout the country.
Donations in Matthew’s name may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, or to any other preferred charity.
A memorial service for Matthew will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd, Austin, Texas 78750.
