Mattie June Hill was born in Austin, Texas on April 11, 1934 to Milton and Mattie Franke. She passed away on June 27, 2006 at the age of 72. June was a wonderful daughter and sister. She was a giving person who always thought of others first. Even as a teenager, she would spend her paycheck on gifts for her younger siblings. Being the first born of five children, she shared a very special relationship with her mother. She loved children and although she was unable to have her own, she spent many hours caring for children in her home. Before her illness, she loved to go fishing and to cook. Every Christmas her family looked forward to her delicious cookies, fudge and divinity. June was known for her passion and appreciation of cats. She had a large collection of ceramic and stuffed cats which was her most valued possession. Annie was her favorite human cat and Pretty Blue Eyes was her favorite stuffed cat. She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Charles Red Hill, her father, Milton Franke and her brother Johnny Franke. June is survived by her mother, Mattie Franke; her brothers, Larry Franke and wife Sharon, Roger Franke and wife Joyce; her sister, Sandra Hille and husband John; and her sister-in-law Kay Franke. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Deanie Campbell and Jean French and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Anne Alexander, Dr. Scott Blois, Dr. Christopher Chenault and the staff of Duval Gardens for the care and compassion they provided during her illness. Graveside services were held on June 29th at Austin Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
