Maura Angela Harrington Morgan died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 in the home she shared with her family. She is survived by her spouse, John Morgan and sons, Shawn and Colum Morgan, brother, Alfie Harrington, and four sisters, Ann Hayden, Eily McGrath, Carmel OShea, and Peggy Harrington, in addition to dozens of nieces and nephews. Maura was born June 2, 1945 in Glengarriff Co. Cork, Ireland. She was the middle of seven rambunctious children. Together they operated their family-owned inn living and working alongside one another. As a sister with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, she immigrated to Houston, Texas at the young age of 17 where she was a member of the order from 1962-1968. Maura went on to become a US citizen in January 1969. Pursuing her love of helping others, Maura received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Dominican College. She later met the love of her life, John Morgan, who has stood by her side for the last 36 years. In addition to being a full time mother, she was an active volunteer helping the elderly, being active in PTA organizations and other school functions, as well as being a caring and compassionate person. Her friends remember her contagious laugh and great sense of humor. Maura was a loving wife and mother of two caring sons. We will remember her fondly, miss the sparkle in her eye, and cherish the time that she blessed our lives. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Obituary and guestbook available online at wcfish.com
