Maureen “Molly” Clemett, beloved mother, passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on February 3, 2021. Molly was born in Ayer, Massachusetts to Rose and Michael Dolan. Despite living in Texas for fifty years, she always considered herself a New Englander at heart. She deeply loved her younger brothers, David and Bill, and cherished visits with her family “back home” in Massachusetts.
At Ayer High School, Molly was voted “Most Athletic” due to her impressive basketball skills. She graduated from Bridgewater in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught Physical Education and in her role as the coach of the girls’ basketball team, she led her team to win the Massachusetts State Championship at Boston Garden.
In 1960, Molly married Major James P. Clemett and together they had four children: Margaret, Joseph, Rose, and Mary. As a life-long educator, Molly held teaching positions at St. Luke’s and St. Mary’s in Temple, Texas and at St. Louis in Austin, Texas, where she also served as Assistant Principal. While at St. Louis she made many dear, life-long friends.
Molly loved nothing more than to be surrounded by her large family. She had a fantastic sense of humor and was always ready to laugh, raise a glass in toast, and engage in a good debate.
She also loved trips to the beach, happy hours with her fellow teachers, the New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. Molly was generous, upbeat, and loving. She will be missed dearly.
Molly leaves behind her four children; Maggie Schoolar and her husband Robert, Joseph Clemett, Rose Coleman and her partner David Clarke, Mary Gardner and her husband Kelly, nine grandchildren; Max Schoolar and his wife Nicki, Samantha Garrett and her husband Kevin, Andrea Franks and her fiancé Jason Lynch, Ruben Coleman, Hank Gardner, Molly Gardner, and Zachery Clemett , four great-grandchildren; Aretta Schoolar, Woody Garrett, Gunnar Garrett and Zelda Schoolar, her brothers; David Dolan and his wife Diane, Bill Dolan and his wife Armida and their large and loving families in Massachusetts.
As a devout Catholic, her strong faith sustained her throughout her life. Now at peace, she joins her loving parents, her sister-in-law Martha Dolan, her granddaughter Myla Clemett, and her large Irish family in Heaven.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Park Bend for the care and compassion shown and Renee Gately and Noreen Norman for all the visits, love, and friendship.
A Mass will be held at St Louis Catholic Church on February 8th at 10:00 to celebrate her life and passing to Heaven. In lieu of flowers or donations, please say a prayer and raise your glass to Heaven and toast her farewell.
