

Maya Elizabeth Treviño, age 18, joined our Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Her passing was in the company of her loving family and dearest friends at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas.
Maya, the second daughter of Myrna and Jacinto Treviño, was born in Edinburg, Texas on June 5, 1998. She moved to Austin when she was six years old. A bright, bubbly, and ambitious child, Maya loved learning, making friends and planning for her future. She graduated from James Bowie High School in June 2016. Throughout her school years, Maya was a strong student with diverse interests including cheer, Student Leadership, Student Council, sculpture and the Young Life Church group. She was a second semester freshman at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. She was studying to pursue a career in the health sciences with the hope of someday working with children. Maya loved animals and spending free time with her family and shopping for shoes! She loved spending time with her mother watching her favorite shows including the local or national news, home improvement shows, wedding-themed shows and the various "Housewives Of..."series. She also cherished the time spent with her many friends, both in person and on social media. Maya truly was a caring, responsible, organized, detail-oriented, creative, talented and wise young woman. She was a dreamer with a plan.
Maya is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Eloisa Quiñones Carrillo and Arnulfo G. Carrillo, and her paternal grandfather, Juan Treviño. She is survived by Myrna (mother), Claudia (sister), Anthony Valderas (step-father), Madison Valderas (step-sister) and Dr. Kristin Escamilla (step-sister). She is also survived by Jacinto (father), Michelle Treviño (step-mother), their children Stephanie and Sarah, and her paternal grandmother, Teodora Treviño.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the loving care she received from everyone at St. David's Hospital (South and Central locations) and the Surgicare Center staff at St. David's.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Celebration will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 24, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Drive. Interment will follow services at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
Honoring Maya as pallbearers will be Mikey Padron, Matthew Sleeth, Nicholas Padron, Michael Trevino, Tommy Trevino, Adrian Trevino, Justin Valdez, and Toby Morales.
