Melba Odom Garrett

Melba June Odom Garrett, age 95, died Wednesday May 4, 2022. Melba was a member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ for over 60 years. She worked for the University of Texas Austin for many years in the Printing department. She was preceded in death by her husband Olan J. Garrett Jr. (Bill) her sister Doniece Faye Odom Ramsey and her parents Orpha and Dewey Odom. Her family includes her son J. Curtis Garrett and wife Debra of College Station, Texas; daughter Barbara J. James and husband Richard of Round Rock, Texas; Grandchildren include Kimberly Monk and husband Chris of Kingwood, Texas, Bryan Garrett and wife Laura of College Station, Texas; Bradley James and wife Beth of Leander, Texas, and Stacy Harris of Round Rock, Texas. She has seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Vaughn Odom and wife Pat of Euless, Texas. She can be remembered for her Love of Jesus, her kind and loving heart and her work ethic. Melba never left her house without having her dishes washed, an old German tradition or house clean. Also known for her late night cleaning of the house before going to bed. Special thanks to Buckner Villas Campbell and Harbor units for their diligent and kind care for 14 years 5 months, after having a stroke at age 80. Also, a special thanks to Charlie Johanson and many church friends and friends for the many cards and visits and also to Connie Rienlie. Melba loved her yard, flowers, plants and she always had a vegetable garden growing things she loved to cook. A graveside service will take place on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 10 AM at Austin Memorial Park 2800 Hancock Dr. Austin, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor Charlie Johanson.
