

Melita McAlister Harris, 55, of Cedar Park passed away July 31, 2010 in Cedar Park. Ms. Harris was born November 4, 1954 in Texarkana, Texas and was raised in Lubbock and moved to Austin in 1980. She retired from the State of Texas, Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (formerly known as Texas Rehabilitation Commission) after over 30 years of service. Melita was a wonderful soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. An avid lover and caretaker, her heart had no boundaries. As the bright light in her family, so was she in the lives of all her friends and coworkers throughout the years. She was an angel amongst us and now has returned to Heaven to claim her own set of wings and join in the choir to sing loud and strong with the other angels. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by her son, Uriah Harris of Austin; her mother and step-father, Margaret and Willie Armstrong of Lubbock; brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Nanci McAlister; 2 nieces, Heather and Michael Kahl and Emily and David Williams; 1 great-niece, McKinzie Kahl, all of Colorado Springs, CO; beloved friend, John Lewandowski of Houston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 PM Thursday in the Cook-Walden Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment services will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks.
