Michael Royce Huckaby was born on August 11, 1972 to Clara Jo and Jim Huckaby in Austin, Texas. He was the youngest of three children, attended McCallum High School and earned a degree in finance from Texas A&M University. Michael was very bright, tender-hearted, witty, sentimental and loving. In the evenings he could be found on his balcony crooning songs while watching the sunset (perhaps to his neighbor’s chagrin), and was an avid collector of art. His ultimate joy and life’s passion was in being a father to his beautiful daughters, Bella and Morgan. He was a good son, friend and father and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his parents, sister Melanie Fain of Welfare, Texas, brother Neal Huckaby, his wife Elaine and their son Ford, of Austin, Texas, daughter’s Morgan and Bella Huckaby of Austin, Texas, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Emma Huckaby - who he’s joyfully reunited with in heaven.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 11 am at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3215 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas, 78705.

All my memories of Huckaby are from many, many moons ago and all of them are wonderful ones. Huck and my late brother David were friends from the get-go, both 100% boys, both funny, and exceptionally kind and tender. Everyone in our family adored Huckaby! He brightened up a room and your heart upon appearance with his thoughtful engagement. Our hearts break with all of his family and friends who ache to see his winning grin again, to share a good laugh, and celebrate the humor and connection that abounds. There is no substitute for bodily presence, but we pray for comfort with all who grieve, in deep gratefulness for the blessing of the life and legacy of Michael Huckaby. To Bella and Morgan: your Dad made the world a better place just by being who he was! He was loved and appreciated by all who knew him! Keep asking people to share stories about him. He loved you very much~ what a gift he was and always will be! xo

What a great guy Huck was. I was so sad to hear the news. I first got to know him from playing baseball together as kids (and he was a heck of a player). Later on we attended high school together, and he was nice enough to often give me rides to school before I had my own car, and during that phase when you don’t want to ride with your parents! Great sense of humor, always welcoming, and just fun to be around. Huck you will be deeply missed.

I’m completely shocked to hear of Mike’s passing. He was such a spark of laughter whenever he visited our small Product Management team at the FSB. My heart goes out to his family and his daughters. Rest In Peace Huck!

Still struggling with this news. Such a tragic loss. Floods of memories. From remembering your mean knuckleball, hanging out at your house, heading to the lake and making sure you never lifted more than me in F-fines. You will be missed my friend

I still remember the fist day we met at USAA Huck. Unbelievable how much as transpired from that time. You will be missed my friend. So tragic and hard to comprehend. I will miss your jovial attitude and way to always lighten the mood. I will see you again one day...

Gone way too soon. Huck always had a kind word and a smile on his face for anyone he encountered at USAA. My prayers for peace and comfort for his daughters and his family. May the many memories they have of him bring them joy in the coming weeks and months.

I was very saddened to hear about Huck’s passing. We worked together at USAA and I will always fondly remember him for his bright smile and great sense of humor. We had many laughs together and great conversations about family…he was especially proud of his daughters. No words can describe how sorry I am for this loss. May God’s Grace give his daughters and family peace and comfort during this difficult time. God bless you Huck…Rest in Peace. You will be greatly missed!
