Michael Ray Pollei, AKA Hippie Mike, left his earthly confines on January 20, 2022 to join many friends, family members, rock musicians, and disc golfers for an epic party on the other side. Michael was 64.
Michael regretfully left before his siblings Patrick Pollei and his wife Deborah, Paula Pollei, and Carolyn Walston and her husband David. He left before his nieces and nephew Lynsy Parker, her husband Chris, and her children Emma and Harrison; Ryan Pollei and his daughter Lily; Alicia Bichl and Katherine Bichl. Michael left before many friends he had made over the years that he considered his family.
Michael worked for the state of Texas for 47 years dedicating 38 years working for the Texas School for the Blind. He volunteered after retiring in 2021. Helping students become their best selves was his passion and life calling. May the students, faculty, and staff continue to do their best work and live their best life. Michael would want nothing less for each of you.
Michael's personal passions were disc golf, music, and LaLa's Little Nugget. To his disc golf buddies, you made his life fun. He loved you and the game. He is playing an epic game of disc golf and preparing an amazing course for all of you to play someday. For all of those friends that enjoyed Eeyore and all the music, he is listening to the greats in concert waiting for us to join him. To his friends at LaLa's. You gave him a second home that he loved almost as much as he loved each of you. His glass of house whiskey (because he didn't like the fancy stuff) is waiting to toast you when you meet again.
A memorial and celebration will be set at a later date.
