

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare, graduating magna cum laude from California State University Humboldt in 1974. Michael graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco in 1979, with a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Administration. Additionally, he completed a Graduate Studies program in Clinical Psychology.
Michael’s successful career as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and Vocational Expert spanned nearly five decades, 1981 through 2026, and supported disabled communities of California and Texas.
The son of a minor league baseball player, Michael was himself a baseball enthusiast who loved the game, playing shortstop for years in his community softball league in Paradise, California, where he and his wife April raised their children.
Even greater than his passion for baseball was his love of music. Michael was a gifted songwriter and a skilled musician, penning over 400 songs that he performed and recorded in northern California as well as in Austin, Texas. He and April relocated in 2011 to be closer to family. He loved traveling, live music, dancing, kayaking, but most of all sharing laughter and time with his family.
Michael is survived by his loving wife April, his children Summer and Noah, his sisters Susan and Shirley, his grandchildren Adrienne, Devlin, and Kassidy, and by his Boston Terrier Gracie.
