Florence L. (Mickie) Bellah was born May 22, 1935, in North Ridge, New York, the last of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents Florence (Tim) Lafler and Huey Lafler; brothers Don Huey, Alan Barrie, Gerald Owen, and Kenneth Albert; and husband of 32 years, Roy Bellah of Austin.
Mickie moved to Dallas in 1963 and married Roy in September 1967. Her professional career spanned over 55 years in broadcasting, advertising and volunteering for many non-profit groups. While in Dallas she worked for WFAA-TV and several advertising agencies. They moved to Austin in 1971 and she was employed by KVUE-TV before working with Bill Lacy and GSD&M. Her spiritual and meditative paintings will long survive her.
While small in stature, Mickie was larger than life cutting a wide swath with friendships spanning decades. Her life was shared by many and enjoyed by all. There are her tennis buddies, Channel 24 gals, the Shamanic community, advertising/media pals, & neighbors. She was a lover of dogs, life-long tennis player, Shamanic practitioner, Reiki practitioner, traveler, and collector of crystals. Her huge smile and upbeat enthusiasm always made others feel listened to and cared about. Mickie's great sense of humor always delighted any conversation.
