

Mildred Ilene Babcock died peacefully on May 26, 2010 following a long illness. Born May 8, 1926, she grew up on a dairy farm near Coffeyville, Kansas. Her talented parents had a strong influence on her life. She was active in many groups in high school and attained high school honors. Known for her smile and pleasant demeanor, she was a beauty queen, both during high school and college years. At Kansas State University she joined Chi Omega sorority, was inducted into several honor societies and was listed in Who's Who in American Universities. She obtained a degree with honors in Home Economics from KSU. Mildred was always an active participant and leader in each organization and her church. She was a 61 year active member of P.E.O. While at college she met H. Duane Babcock, and following graduation was married August 8, 1948 in Coffeyville. Millie was admired for her grace, charm and wisdom. She always had a ready and beautiful smile that would put everyone at ease and an infectious giggle. She was a loving wife and mother, and instilled many of her characteristics in her three daughters. Mildred's parents, Wm. Carlton and Edna Hall of Coffeyville Kansas preceded her in death, as did an older brother, Dr. William C. Hall (DVM) and two younger sisters, Meredythe Winger and Marcia Logsdon. Millie is survived by her husband, Duane; three daughters: Janet Franki Wright and husband, Mickey of Lakeway, Texas; Barbara Peterson and husband, Jeff of North Richland Hills, Texas; and Cheryl Ragan and husband, Terry of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Also surviving are four grandsons: Marcus Franki and wife, Rebekah of Fort Worth, John Peterson of Dallas and Todd Peterson of Fort Worth, Christopher Ragan, a Texas Christian University student; two step-granddaughters Julie Franki and Kim Wright Fazzino and great granddaughter, Sophia Franki Also surviving is sister, Melinda Ross and husband, Stephen of Arkansas City, Kansas and a sister-in-law, Helen Hall of Coffeyville, Kansas. Mildred's many cousins, nephews and nieces are also in mourning. Cedar Ridge Special Alzheimer's Care Center staff, Mildred's physicians, Odyssey Hospice and home caregiver, Graciela Corona, have been greatly appreciated for their loving care during Mildred's lengthy illness. Services will be at The Lakeway Church on Saturday, June 5, at 2:00 PM. Family will attend Inurnment service later in the Memorial Garden of The Lakeway Church.
