

Miyo Washburn (Nakamoto), 97, of Kyle, Texas, died the morning after Thanksgiving Day 2025. She was the widow of Thomas Patrick Washburn, whom she met while he was serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. They were married on October 1, 1961, in Okinawa, Japan. Born April 1, 1928, in Kadena, Okinawa, she was the second daughter of the late Kenji and Ushi Nakamoto (Tasaki). She worked many jobs, sometimes at the same time over her lifetime, supporting her family. She called herself a Buddhist and a Christian. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling to Okinawa, and especially loved her grandchildren and sisters. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will forever miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her sons, Chokei and Toshio Kiyuna; her daughters-in-law, Tomiko Kiyuna (Aka) and Ammala Kiyuna; her brothers, Kensei, Kenshin, and Kensho Nakamoto; and her sisters, Fumi Nakamoto and Tomi Tasaki.
She is survived by her sisters, Shizuko Arasaki, Kimiko Miyazato, and Kazuko Murphy; her son, Michael Washburn, and wife, Sherri; six grandchildren: Tom Kiyuna, Chosei Kiyuna, Choken Kiyuna, Nathan Washburn, James Washburn, and Choko Kiyuna; and one great-grandson, Daniel Kiyuna.
