Morris grew up in Austin as a first-generation American to parents who emigrated from Lebanon. His youth was spent in and around downtown Austin, where he worked for his family’s business, a grocery store, at 519 East 6th Street.
Like his brothers before him he wanted to serve his country. He joined the Army and served in San Antonio, Texas for three years. While there he met Agnes (Millie) Driska who he married on July 30, 1966. They were married for 58 years before her passing on October 31, 2024.
Cooking, collecting coins, crossword puzzles, travel, road trips to Vegas and Louisiana casinos, hosting poker nights are just some of the activities that Morris and Millie enjoyed together.
Having retired from the University of Texas at Austin after 30 years he was die-hard Longhorn sports fan. He absolutely loved U.T Football!
His sweet smile and good heart made him the best husband and father any family could have. He will be greatly missed. Morris is survived by his daughter, Lizette Daywood, as well as many nieces and nephews.
