

Alvin Leon Miller, Sr. was born in Columbus, Texas to the late Clyde Miller and Myrtle B. Steward Miller on January 3, 1939. At the end of their marriage his mother later married Jesse Hanner and relocated to Eagle Lake, Texas. Alvin then attended E.H. Henry High School where he graduated. Alvin was baptized at an early age at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Alvin and his brother, Melvin, and two first cousins, Wilbert and Leo Miller, started a singing group known as the "The Miller Boys". Later his mother, Myrtle Hanner, renamed the group the "Mount Olive Royal Ambassadors". Alvin married at an early age, to this union, six children were born. Alvin met Gwendolyn Bacon in 1979 and relocated from San Antonio to Austin. They married in 1985. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Alvin joined Rosewood Avenue Baptist Church and worked on the usher board and sang with the male chorus. He was a faithful member and loved his church until his health failed. Alvin retired from the State of Texas D.H.S. Records Department. His parents and one daughter, Jocelyn Miller preceded him in death. He leaves a loving and devoted wife, Gwendolyn; one brother, Melvin Miller, of Eagle Lake, Texas; three sons, Roy Miller of Austin, Texas, Alvin Jr. and Leo Miller of Eagle Lake, Texas; a loving step-son, Ian Hargrove, Eagle Lake, Texas; three daughters, Janice Bluntson (Jerry) and Doris Miller of Eagle Lake, Texas, Andrannett Miller of Kingsville, Texas; a loving stepdaughter, Terri Martin; a loving God-couple, Abram and Gilma Domingue; a host of grand and great grand children, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
