

Murray was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from Lake Highlands High School, Dallas, Texas, in the top 10 of his class. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He recently received PMP certification. Murray was a self taught guru of computers and went on to work in technical support at Apple Computer, working his way into management. He then went on to work with various technical start-up companies as Director of Customer Support.
Murray loved being a father to his three children and was a leader in his sons Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout troop, as well as assisted at various activities for his daughter’s Girl Scout troop. He was active at Bethany UMC as a youth leader, taught Sunday school, provided IT assistance, participated in mission trips and other activities. Murray was a huge sci-fi fan, in particular Star Trek and Star Wars. He enjoyed hiking, camping, traveling and playing video games with his children and wife.
Murray is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Edward N. Wheeler. Murray is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Debbie Wheeler; sons, John and Joe; and daughter, Samantha; mother, Luella Wheeler-Bell; his three brothers, Gordon (wife Carol), Sterling (wife Elizabeth), Darrell (wife Donna); and his sister, Charlotte (husband Jeff Chapman); as well as his many other family members and friends.

On Friday, February 26, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm a visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78750. The funeral service will be on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas 78750.
