She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, James (Jim): daughters, Toni Meeks Chovanetz (Don), Janet Meeks Byrum (Tom) and Adrienne Pierce (Will); grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Sherri Meeks, and her parents, Gerhard Spretz and Donna Bai.
Dee married the love of her life and best friend on November 15, 1986. Dee and Jim pursued Dee’s passion for gardening and together, planted thousands of flowers over the years. Dee and Jim enjoyed the outdoors. Surrounded by the flowers they planted together, they would talk about anything and everything. Dee’s wicked sense of humor welcomed many laughs in their conversations.
Many rescue puppies were given a second chance because of Dee. Over the years, Dee opened her heart and gave them a place to call home. Dee loved her puppies as if they were her own babies. They brought enormous amounts of joy to her. Pampered and spoiled, Dee’s fur babies ran the house. If you believe in reincarnation, you would have wanted to come back as one of their puppies.
Dee was a business owner. She met many, many people over the years. Her giving personality attracted customers to her doors who would go on to become friends. People would come to her when they were down because of her will to help everyone as much as she possibly could. Dee and Jim would throw numerous parties at the business for the very reason of creating a warm atmosphere for all the friends who would not be with their families during the holidays.
Those that were lucky enough to know Dee will surely miss her vibrant personality and sharp sense of humor. She will be fondly remembered for all she gave back to the community and always helping those who were less fortunate. Grief is the price we pay for love. Use this time as a time to celebrate her life. It is what Dee would have wanted. Remember and cherish the good times, laughter, and joy that Dee brought to this world.
