Nan Ok Ackley
July 16, 1956 – September 15, 2020
Nan Ok (Park) Ackley, beloved matriarch of the Ackley family, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the age of 64. She was born in Kyongsang, South Korea on July 16, 1956 to Chong Sun and Nan Kyo Park.
In pursuit of a dream that would endure, Nan traveled to America from South Korea with her new husband, Steven. Although young and with a limited knowledge of the English language and culture, Nan was a quick study. She worked hard and adapted to her new life, culture, and family- earning her American citizenship. Nan enjoyed spending time with her family and beloved dog, traveling, taking road trips to the coast, fishing, camping, gardening, playing cards, and puzzles. Nan was a strong and independent woman, who had no problem telling you how she felt or taking on challenges. Nan admitted life was not always easy, but through commitment and hard work anything was possible. She worked full-time while raising three children, opened and ran her own businesses, and made a successful life in the United States.
She was a loving wife, partner, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steven Michael Ackley, her sister Yeon-ok, and her brother-in-law Jae-ho.
Nan is survived by her partner Randall Walsh, her son Michael Ackley and wife Kim Ackley, son Thomas Ackley and wife Lynette Ackley, her daughter Nancy Hernandez and spouse Veronica Hernandez. Her grandchildren Shylynn Ackley, Mia Ackley, Thomas Ackley Jr., Steven Hernandez, and William Hernandez, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
“A mother's love is always with her children. Losing a mother is one of the deepest sorrows a heart can know. But her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom live on - like a legacy of love that will always be with the family she created.” -Unknown
