Nan Wiginton Clayton
April 5, 1933 – June 7, 2019
Nan Wiginton Clayton, age 86, passed away on June 7, 2019. She was at her home in Brookdale Round Rock with her family nearby.
Memorial services will be held Saturday June 22, 2019 at 2:00PM at St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church in Austin. She will be placed to rest at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Austin at a later date.
Nan was born April 5, 1933 in Lubbock to C.E. “Dutch” and Faye (George) Wiginton. She met Allan Clayton when they were students at Texas Tech University. On June 28, 1952, she and Allan were married in Lubbock. When he finished his degree, he was hired by Alcoa in Rockdale where they made their home for over 45 years while raising their family. While in Rockdale she was involved with the MARC center, the library, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church Altar Guild. In addition, she remained close to her Kappa Alpha Theta sisters from college.
Nan and Allan moved to Round Rock in 1996 for their retirement years. She became quite active with her church, St. Luke’s, where she was on the Guild and a member of Daughters of the King. She was a successful seamstress, much in demand for wedding party alterations. And she loved her Round Rock Express baseball games and watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders! In later years, Nan was a resident of Brookdale Senior Living in Round Rock, where she was loved and cared for by the most wonderful staff. Nan’s family will always be appreciative of her Brookdale family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allan, and her brother Jay Wiginton. She is survived by her sister Sue (Tommy) Morris, sister-in-law Laverne Wiginton, nieces and nephews (Cindy, Becky, Lauren, Lindsay, Brian, Craig, and Colin) and their children, son Steve (Diane) Clayton, daughters Judy (Jimmy) Voyles, Diana (David) Isbon, and Lynn (Marty) Sawyer. She has 5 grandchildren: James Voyles, Brad Isbon, Mary Isbon, Emily (Clayton) Harris, and Mitch Sawyer.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

Nan: a delightful, very sweet soul. Not once was I in her presence where she wasn't sharing that big beautiful smile of hers. You couldn't be within 20 feet of Nan and not feel immediately buoyed - she just had an uplifting effect on spirit. My sincerest heartfelt condolences to those who love her and have to say goodbye for now. She left a lot of love here. Carry that with you daily. May God wrap you in his loving arms and console each of you at this time.
