Nancy was born in Brownsville, Texas on October 13, 1931 to Bruce William Arnold and Ruby Lee Young Arnold. Her family relocated to Houston, Texas when she was a small child. Houston is where she met and married Charles Edward Lambert Jr. They were together 66 years until the time of his passing in February 2015. Their incredible adventures led them to settle in Austin, Texas where they became early members of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. The St. Louis Community quickly became an integral part of Nancy’s life as a young mother of 7 children. She volunteered and served on multiple church/school committees, sharing her creative talents by making items for St. Louis Church fairs, being a Girl Scout leader, sewing, crafting, camping, and providing a welcoming home to all who visited. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of the St. Louis evening bridge club for over 60 years through which they shared laughter and tears, celebrations and tragedies, good food and wine! She was always in for a good time. Her employment with Weight Watchers and Austin ISD was another avenue for her to share her talents and build life-long friendships.
Nancy loved beaches, dancing, dining, bowling, golf, traveling, shopping, flowers, bingo, card games, holidays, most notably Christmas, gardening and her favorite candy, Werther’s Soft Caramels. Her favorite things were visiting with friends, playing with and attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities, her morning coffee, watching Wheel of Fortune, and her beloved Chihuahuas, Whitey and Sadie. She turned challenges into opportunities – she actively participated in life to her fullest extent possible.
She had a strong belief in “what goes around, comes around”. She loved her family unconditionally with strong faith and an abundance of love. As her years increased so did her health challenges, but her sense of humor and wit never failed her. Nancy was blessed with the love she enthusiastically gave to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as in turn, their constant presence and support enabled her to finish her journey in the comfort of her home.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband, Charles E Lambert Jr, 3 daughters, Theresa Cheryl, Donna and Diane; and her only son, Charles E Lambert III. She is survived by 5 daughters, Carol and her husband Worth O Bull Jr, Susan Lambert, Cindy and her husband Charlie Faught, Debbie Krzywonski, and Mary Lynn and her husband Vernon Lucas, and sister-in-law, Charlene (Lambert) Ahrens. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
