Nancy Schieffer Nelsen passed December 30, 2017. Her parents were Ben Richard Schieffer and Josephine Biggs Schieffer of Marble Falls and Austin. Nancy was born in Austin at St. David's Hospital September 9, 1938. She was the eldest of three daughters. She graduated from Austin High in 1956, followed by Durham Nixon Clay Business College. Nancy met Tom Lea Nelsen while he was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base. They were married at Asbury United Methodist Church on Cherrywood Road in 1958. They spent their married life in St Petersburg, Florida, Austin and Marble Falls, Texas. They celebrated 60 years together.
During Nancy's lifetime she belonged to the Austin Garden Club, was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of Delta Zeta Sorority of Marble Falls, a rancher, and a homemaker. She enjoyed league bowling, gardening, and cooking.
Surviving family: husband Tom Lea Nelsen (Austin Fire Department-retired), daughter Susan Irene Nelsen, son Tom Richard Nelsen, and granddaughter Laura Frances Nelsen-Bailey (husband Matthew Keith Bailey).
