Nancy McDonald Siefken passed away on March 3, 2026 surrounded by her family at St. David’s South Hospital. In her final days she was able to say her loving farewells to her two children and all of her surviving siblings.
Born March 4, 1958 in Giessen, Germany to Willis Burr and Nancy Hanks McDonald, she had lived in Austin since the 1980’s working for advocacy organizations, Office of the Attorney General and as a partner in Two Wings Training. Nancy spent the last 20 years of her professional career as a Vice President at McDonald Public Relations and at the Real Estate Council of Austin (RECA) where she directed communications and outreach.
Nancy, or “Kiki” as everyone called her, is survived by: daughter Emily Rose Adriance & son-in-law Samuel Adriance of Washington, D.C.; and son David McDonald Siefken and daughter in-law Monica Siefken of Austin and grandchildren Aurelia Rose Adriance, Maxwell Henry Adriance and Jasper Siefken. Nancy spent most of her retirement years bragging about her beautiful grandchildren.
Nancy is also survived by her siblings Mary McDonald-Hothan, Chuck and Donna McDonald, Stephen and Vicki McDonald, Greg and Laura McDonald, Catherine McDonald-Binswanger, and Mark and Joyce McDonald. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, each of whom has a favorite story about their fun-loving Aunt Kiki.
Preceding her in death were her sister Elizabeth Rose McDonald and brothers Christopher and Brendan McDonald, as well as her parents Willis and Nancy McDonald.
Born the third of 10 children, Nancy’s lived in Germany and California before her father’s military career took the family to El Paso, Texas, where they settled semi-permanently. She was a graduate of Burges High School (1976) in El Paso and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After graduation she worked at the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center and then married Mark Siefken. She moved to Austin in 1988 where her mother, Nancy, was serving as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.
Nancy was outgoing, vivacious and the life of every party she ever attended. She was extremely proud of both of her children, and a loving sister and aunt to all in her family. She was the family historian for her large extended family. Nancy had committed to memory every single family birthday and anniversary (probably some 50-75 dates), and she will be sorely missed by all of those family members.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone at St. David’s South for the loving care she received in the final weeks of her life.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00am on March 10, 2026, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749.
