Known as Natalie to friends and colleagues and “Tali” to family, she excelled in academics and was an avid reader and English equestrian competitor. She graduated in 3.5 years from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology.
At UT, she competed with the Fencing Club where she served as board member and represented Texas at U.S. Nationals, an Olympic Team qualifying event. Proficient in epée and sabre, with a specialty in foil, she was graceful and efficient on the mat, dispatching opponents with finesse and an unexpected left-hand attack.
After eight years in Minnesota and working at Minneapolis Convention & Visitors Bureau, she returned to Austin to be closer to family. She worked for 30 years at Texas Association of School Boards, including as database administrator until her final two months of life. She loved being a TASBean and spoke fondly of her colleagues.
She had a talent and love for art; was active in Austin Stitchery Guild, Bluebonnet Chapter of American Needlepoint Guild, and Austin Bead Society for decades, serving as president and many other positions. She worked with beads, kiln-formed glass, metals, paints, watercolors, and jewelry; her stitchery and bead works featured in shows and sold to private collectors — her art could fill a gallery. She volunteered as jewelry judge at the annual Travis County Youth Show, and she enjoyed attending Longhorn football games and being a Texas Exes Life Member.
She is predeceased by her parents and survived by her sister, Tia England Miller, and husband Bobbo; sister, Claire England, and husband Moneet Singh; brother, David England; and nieces, Emily England and Presley England. She is also survived by her Aunt Kitty and Uncle Ralph Ellis, Aunt Jo Beth Carson, Aunt Nancy England, and many dear cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 30 at 6-8 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish, followed by a funeral service on Friday, March 31 at 11 a.m. at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, both in north Austin. She will be buried in Magnolia, AR, on Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. next to her beloved grandmother and namesake, Natalie “Grantatte” England, at Magnolia City Cemetery.
The England family extends appreciation to her friends and caregivers who supported her in her final months, especially the amazing care team at Seton Hospital on 38th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to her nonprofits: Austin Stitchery Guild, ANG Bluebonnet Chapter, and Austin Bead Society.
