Nathan, our dear brother, was first and foremost a Child of God, having been baptized at Christ Lutheran Church on April 13, 1958.
He was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where he attended St Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Travis High School. He went on to hold jobs at a monument company, a fast-food restaurant, a law firm, and a flooring company, excelling at every task he was given. But, the tasks at which he excelled even more, and took great joy in, came later in his life. He was never happier than when his days were structured around church, home, and an occasional road trip.
He so loved taking care of the landscape at Christ Lutheran, ushering at services, and worshipping his Savior every week. Without complaint, he lovingly took care of the family home, its yardwork, and especially, the needs of his older sister. Any time to himself was spent in his barn turning out beautiful benches, birdhouses, Christmas trees, nativity sets, and many other items from reclaimed wood. And, he wanted to be a friend to almost everyone he met. The best way to describe him is this: “Nathan was Nathan.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Norfleet and Ruth, and a brother-in-law, Bill. He is survived by Duannah (sister), Yvette (sister), Pete (brother-in-law), and his three cats. Services for Nathan will be held in the sanctuary of Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 10th at 11am. The visitation will begin in the sanctuary at 10am, and burial will follow the service at Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial gifts to Christ Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
“But those who HOPE in the Lord will renew their strength.” Is 40:31
