Nelle Mason

Nelle graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton. She married George I. Mason, Jr. July 21, 1946 in the Little Chapel in the Woods at TWU. Nelle traveled around the world with him and their three children as he served in the Air Force. Nelle was a military wife, strong even in difficult situations. Wherever they lived, Nelle always participated in her church; as a Sunday School teacher, in the Women’s Missionary Union, and with a variety of church activities. She was devoted to her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family brought her much joy.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, George I. Mason, III “Buddy”, in 1979; her husband, George, in 2002; and her second son, Ernie, in 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Porter and her husband Steve, grandson Jake Porter and his wife Ashley, and granddaughter Alissa Porter. Two brothers Keith and Jim Parks, their wives, and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Nelle was a devoted Christian who is now in the hand of God.
