
For the last 15 months of their time in Austin, my father, John Augustus Romani, lived with Nick and Grandma, looking after them and making sure that they were okay.    From our standpoint, we very much wanted Nick to have as beautiful a liturgy as the sacred funeral rites of the Roman Catholic church allow, including appropriate music, readings and the solemnity of the ritual.  My Dad and I thank Fr. Tomei for his willingness to work with us.    You see, Nick and Grandma really loved the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.  Being at the 9:30AM Mass was the high point of their week.  They treasured the encounter with the Lord because they believed that every time they approached the altar to receive Holy Communion, they were able to embrace God.  For those who do not understand the importance of music and ritual in the Catholic funeral liturgy, the Mass is the source and summit of our lives as Christians.  May the salviffic mysteries of the Eucharist grant Nick pardon and peace, and eternal rest.



Tio Tito, I will always remember how much Mom loved you and the stories she would tell us about you, especially how you made tortillas in perfect circles.  I remember how some of her favorite things were the Texas fly-swatter and the Texadillo you sent her.  And I remember how you called us after the first bad weather day we had here in Texas and told me YOU may know how to drive in this weather, but no one else does so stay off the roads!  Rest in Peace Tio Tito.



Tio Tito!  What a character you were!  I think even YOU can make God snap to attention.  You were truly a hero in my eyes and as a fellow veteran, I will be proud to be able to salute you on your final journey.  Job well done, Tio.



Tio Tito,    I am going to miss you so much. I still have the book about Texas that you sent me when I was 7 years old and I remember so fondly the home-cooked meals and the times you spent showing me around Austin and Texas. I'm also going to miss the way you would burst in my room every morning shouting "Wake up!" at 7:00 a.m. during every vacation I spent at your house! :-) Our time together meant so much to me because I saw so much of my Dad in you. I'm also glad you will now be able to verbally spar with my Mom again (I know how much you missed that)! I'm glad you're all together now. And yes, I will definitely miss you telling me to "Go for seconds!" May God bless Aunt Mary, Cissy and the rest of your family.    Your nephew,  Gerry



Tio Tito, I'll always remember your "Sam the Man!" shouts every time you saw me.  It still makes me smile.  I wish you could have met my daughters - I'll tell them about you someday.



Tio Tito will always be one of my favorite uncles. I have fond memories of visiting him in Laredo Texas with our family. He was deeply proud of his family and loved them all. I know he is in heaven with all his deceased relatives.  May he rest in peace and God Bless Aunt Mary and Cissy.
