Nita Virginia Phelan Messer, age 95, of Buda, Texas passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 with family by her side. She was born January 26, 1913 to Jesse Dea Phelan and Mary Jane Aston in Lometa, Texas. She grew up and graduated from high school in Florence, Texas. She was a long time resident of Buda, Texas and a member of Buda First Baptist Church since 1952, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Louie Edward Messer. Nita is survived by her daughter, Janice Atkins of Buda; granddaughter, Deborah Gloria and husband Jimmy; great-grandchildren, Madison, Jimmy II and Ava Gloria of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Marjorie Jean of Killeen. Special thanks to the staff of Golden Age Nursing Home and Vista Care Hospice for their care. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 3, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Buda, Texas with Pastor Jack Burton and Pastor Stephen Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Manchaca, Texas.
