Norine Duffy Cruz

Norine Cruz, age 89, of Austin, Texas passed away at home with her family at her side on the morning of December 6, 2010. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Cruz; daughter, Mary Lupercio; parents, Frank and Juana Duffy Sr.; sisters, Lula LaFuente, Velma Ortiz, and Thelma Hernandez; brother Frank Duffy Jr.; daughter-in-law, Hope Hernandez; and great-grandson, Jose Sanchez Jr., and great-granddaughter, Anela Ng.

She is survived by her son, John Hernandez (Carmen) of Austin; daughter, Patsy Estorga (Marshall) of Austin; son-in-law, Carlos Lupercio Sr.; grandchildren, Mark Estorga (Adriana) of Austin, Amy Dominguez (Daniel) of Austin, Cathy Sanchez (Jose) of Houston, Chris Hernandez (Karen) of Houston, Laura Zarea (Kayvan) of Houston, Dianne Ng (Nathan) of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Carlos Lupercio Jr. of Austin, and Sarah Lupercio (Joe) of Austin; fourteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; cousins Josie Hernandez and Mary Moya; and her dear friend Angelina Jaime.

Norine was born in Austin, Texas on July 30, 1921. In addition to raising her family, Norine worked as a steam presser, a caregiver for over twenty years, and was a member of Ladies of Charity for many years.

The visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday December 7, 2010 and a Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. Both the visitation and Rosary will be at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue.

The funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Sta. Julia Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum

Honoring Norine as pallbearers will be J. C. Cruz, Joe Silva, Chris Hernandez, Ryan Hernandez, Mark Estorga, Skylar Bonilla. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos Lupercio Jr., Greg Cantu, and Leticia Dominguez.

In celebration of Norine’s life, contributions can be made in her honor to the Catholic War Veterans San Jose Post 1805, Youth Program, 4913 South Congress Avenue or to the charity of your choice.
