Orpha Mae was born in Norman, Oklahoma on January 17, 1927. She graduated from Norman High School. Orpha Mae was married to Curtis T. McClure on April 1, 1946; they were married 23 years.
Orpha Mae worked with distinction as a Voucher Auditor for the US Veterans Administration for many years. Highly musical, she was an accomplished pianist and actively involved in church music performance, for the bulk of her life. She volunteered her time and talent at the nursing home up until her death. She delighted in sharing her music and played from the heart. Her primary gifts were for liturgical hymns. Even in her 90’s she was known for driving herself on 4-6 hour road trips. A daring spirit, she was adventurous and full of gusto.
Orpha Mae is survived by children: Amy Louise (Larry) Harrell, Elizabeth (Stewart) Herschap, Lee Jason McClure, and Roy Marvin (Elisa) McClure. Her grandchildren: Christopher, Carrie, Tony, Brandon, Rhian, Jordan and Brooke, and her six great-grandchildren were a constant source of love, pride and fun.
Orpha Mae is survived by her brother, Edward John Niedermaier III (Yvonne). Orpha Mae is preceded in death by her parents and elder sister, Merle Perkins.
The family wishes to thank Kindred Hospice for their loving attention; as well as all the prayers, good intentions and words of kindness. They are all very much appreciated and serve as a balm in our hearts.
