The world lost another beautiful person to our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 14th. Pamela Ann Mead Millard age 56, a long time resident of the Lake Travis area passed away quietly during the late hours this last Sunday evening. She was a bright shining star with the type of personality that brought forth joy, delight and a quick friendship with all she met. Through the latter years of her life, many times she would be just too tired to function but was always able to hide her pain by bringing out the happiness in others. Pamasita was just one of those people who brought out the best in everyone. Pam was born into a loving home and family on Dec. 16, 1953 at Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio to Robert and Helga Mead. She spent four years in Germany and four years in England while her Dad was serving in the United States Air Force. She graduated from Lanier High School in 1972 and was a member of the first Vikettes drill team. She shed the Texas heat for the Alaskan cold, moving to Eagle River with her husband and son but the lake life of boating, waterskiing, and motorcycle riding always beckoned her home where she worked for a short time at a local property management business. Pamie really loved the feeling of weightlessness while scuba diving. She loved to travel to such exotic lands like Bali, Australia, and too many islands in the Caribbean to mention. Twenty years ago, her fibromyalgia was thought to be a figment of imagination by some doctors and not even heard of by others. Her greatest pain was not being able to lead a normal life when she looked so normal. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Charlie Millard, son Chris and wife Heather of Round Rock, father and mother Robert Udell and Helga Franciska Mead, brother Marvin Mead, nephew Tyler Mead & niece Madison Mead of the Lakeway area and numerous lifelong friends. Pam was preceded in death by the family German Shepherd. Major was her youngest baby and even after one year gone, she found it hard not to cry when thinking about him. A service celebrating her life will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis in Lakeway. Dave "Doc" Cowher will officiate and Brian Rawleigh will give the eulogy. A reception will be held at the Millard residence after the service.
