Patricia Anne (Killeen) Fidrocki passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family and caring friends, after a lifelong battle against juvenile diabetes and kidney disease. She was 59 years old.
Patty was born in New London, CT, grew up in Uncasville, CT, and then later, in Ipswich, MA, where she met her high school sweetheart, and God’s perfect match for her, Walter Jon Fidrocki. They met in high school and their first date was May 17, 1975, and they married 5 years later, on August 23, 1980. They shared a beautiful marriage of over 37 years, filled with laughter, love and adventure. Patty also faced many medical challenges over the years, but she always had the support of her family. When kidney failure caused the need for a transplant in 2002, all her sisters, her husband, niece and nephew and a local friend were a match, but her husband was selected and the transplanted kidney helped her live a more normal life until recently.
Patty attended Boston State College working towards a degree in Physical Education. She worked at Hogan Regional Center in Danvers MA as Recreation Therapist / Aquatics Director working with mentally and physically handicapped and a Certified Emergency Medical Technician until 1993 and then moved to Austin, TX where she became a Medical Assistant and then a full time Homemaker when they adopted their daughter Emilee XiaZhi Fidrocki from Changzhou, China.
Patty was a devoted mother who gave a lot of time to her daughter’s activities through her school years and continuing into her years of college.
Patty will be missed by many, both in Texas and in New England, but all who knew her can take comfort in the fact that she can finally rest after years of a good fight, she is no longer in pain, and can walk alongside the loved ones she has rejoined in heaven.
Patty is survived by both her husband Walter and their daughter Emilee; as well as her four sisters and her brother and their families, Kathie (Killeen) Beauchamp and husband Robert Beauchamp, Debra (Killeen) Sarra and husband William Sarra, Donna (Killeen) Stefano and husband Arthur Neuner, Michael Killeen and wife Tamela (Faraci) Killeen and Anne (Killeen) Logan and husband John Logan; as well as 12 nieces and nephews and 4 grand nieces.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 7, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with Recitation of Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. A memorial celebration of Patty’s life is planned to be held in Ipswich, MA this upcoming Spring or Summer for those not able to travel to Texas.
