

Paul was born to Carl and Marion Pilkington. He was married to Mary Ellen from 1960 until her death in 1991. They lived in Louisiana and Houston, Texas. In 1997, Paul met and married Pat.
Paul graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors in Science in Chemistry, and entered the U.S. Army in 1953 as a CIC Investigator. He then attended Marietta College and graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Petroleum Engineering.
He worked for Conoco 36 years from 1956 to 1992, where he was known as P5: Paul Pilkington Pore Pressure Prophet. His proudest career accomplishments included establishing a variable corrosion control program offshore of Lake Charles. He also prided himself in cutting drilling costs, eliminating blowouts, and improving rig safety through pore pressure work around the world.
Following his retirement he is remembered for his volunteer work at Sherwood Elementary School, where he met Pat. He was honored as Volunteer of the Month from many organizations. He also volunteered ten years at the Houston Zoo in the Aquarium Department and was honored as Volunteer of the Year. He is a member of the John and Ingrid Werner Society at the Houston Zoo.
Paul is survived by his wife, Pat; brother, Roy; three children, Cynthia, Fred and Diane; two grandchildren, Kyra and Corin; two step-children, Grant and Kerry; three step-grandchildren, Quinn, Avery and Finn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 1:15 PM, Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those attending Paul’s funeral.
Arrive 15 minutes early(by 1 pm). Drive to lane 2. They will direct us to the funeral site. The military service will be from 1:15-1:45 pm, then we will be asked to leave. That day you can return after 4 pm for a longer visit. After April 29 you may visit Paul’s niche anytime.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, New York 10001, or a charity of your choice.
