We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Pauline A. Peña in Austin, Texas. She went to our Lord in Heaven on July 14, 2019 at the age of 89.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all but one of her siblings; son Gerardo “Jerry” Javier Peña (1961-2017) and daughter Linda Bucher (1963-2004).

She is survived by her husband, José M. Peña, Jr.; her sister, Rosa Aguilar; two of her four children; José Maria Peña, III, Melissa Gisela Peña. Also a daughter-in-law, Luz Sanchez-Peña; two granddaughters, Estela Peña and Lauren Bucher Delaney (married to Andrew Delaney).

Pauline was born on August 22, 1929 in McNeil, Texas (now part of Austin) to Emeterio Aguilar and Narcisa Lopez. She was married for over 60 years to José M. Peña, Jr and had four children--José III, Jerry, Linda, and Melissa. As a Foreign Service spouse, she traveled throughout the world—Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Egypt, Israel, Spain and Germany were among the countries she lived in and visited. Among so many things, she was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, as well as an accomplished chef, and a skilled yard seller. She instilled in her children tolerance, love, compassion, and the importance of family.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress, Austin, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest, Austin, Texas.

Interment will occur at Assumption Cemetery, followed by a reception hosted by the family.

We miss you dearly and feel your presence everywhere we go but know that you are in a better place in company of family and friends. You will always be in our heart. We will never forget your wisdom, wit and love and devotion to family. You gave us many spiritual gifts. These we will nurture and grow and we will pass these gifts to our children, and grandchildren.
