Pauline was born on March 4, 1932, at home in Jonesboro, Texas to parents Howard Porter Floyd and Gladys Annie Ogle Floyd. One of 8 children she worked on the family farm until she married her sweetheart Wayne C. Young of Gatesville, TX on May 19, 1949. With Wayne’s enlistment in the US Army and $40 in their pocket they headed to Ft. Benning, GA. In 1950 their son Ronald Dwayne was born while stationed in Fort Story, VA. After an honorable discharge for Wayne, the family moved to Austin, Texas where their daughter Joy Elaine was born in 1961.
Pauline took great pride in raising her children and creating a beautiful home. She perfected her cooking and baking skills, becoming known for her delicious variety of homemade pies. She learned to sew which came in handy for Joy and her friends when custom made costumes were required for the Vikette Dance Team. Pauline loved gardening, sewing, travelling and attending every grandchild event she could. She enjoyed square dancing with her favorite partner, Wayne, in the Promenader’s Square Dance Club. Together they danced for over 30 years making lifelong friends. During retirement, Pauline and Wayne travelled the United States and Canada in their RV until 2007. At 94 years, she could still tell you her wonderful memories of all the places they visited.
Dedicated long time member of Crestview Baptist Church, Pauline loved Jesus and shared her faith with her friends and family. She consistently demonstrated her great love for everyone. She was a powerful prayer warrior, and no one doubted that she was going to Heaven. Not only was she going, but through her prayers and deep love she wanted all of us to join her there one day.
