It is with sadness that we mourn the passing yesterday of Peggy Joyce Carter Adams -- cherished wife for 66 years of Daniel Adams; beloved mother of Susan Adams Worob, Daniel Carter Adams, and John Wilson Adams; honored grandmother of seven; respected great-grandmother of one.
Peggy was born in Huntsville, Alabama. She was a classic "farm girl," and "Pete," as her father called her, loved animals and was a crack shot with a rifle. She also loved to read. Peggy was a member of the National Honor Society and after her graduation, worked in the First National Bank in Huntsville. It was there, the preferred teller of several military and Redstone Arsenal dignitaries, that she met Dan, who became her beloved husband. Living in White Sands, NM, they drove all night to El Paso so that their daughter, Susan, could be born a true Texan. Peggy was a strong mother who was always willing to help lead the youth. Living in Vernon, Texas, she was on the Child Welfare Board, Wilbarger County Literacy Council, Vernon Library Board, and a charter member of the Lady Lions Club. Living in Austin, she enjoyed hosting pool parties for her children and grandchildren. She was 93.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy's loving memory to:
